THE VISION OF PLUMBLINE

I, (Jen) was worshiping in church when I happened to notice a woman standing several rows in front of me. What I noticed was that she was carrying way too much weight for her tiny frame. As I looked around the congregation, I saw many others who appeared to be overweight.

I heard the Lord say, “Tell them about my plumb line”. I knew exactly what He meant. I had been studying about the concept of the plumb line in Scripture. Specifically in the book of Amos, where God asked Amos to hold up a plumb line for the children of Israel to examine their behavior and return to the Lord.

I heard Him ask me to hold up the plumb line for God’s children to see where He desired them to be in their physical bodies, compared to where they are now. I received the following steps from Him clearly and succinctly.

It seemed that the first step in discovering plumb would be at the Doctor’s office. Most of us have gotten annual or routine physicals, accompanied by fasting bloodwork. The feedback from the bloodwork and the Physician’s exam would be the beginning of discovering plumb for our bodies.

The next step would be to encourage each participant to begin to move their bodies…to walk 10,000 steps a day.

After that, I would encourage a nutritional consultation, an exercise consult and psychological assistance if needed.

The Plumbline Program would be “open entry/open exit” where each participant would decide how many steps they would like to move towards plumb. The Holy Spirit will be the One who motivates each person to move closer to the goal of glorifying God in their bodies (1 Cor. 6: 19-20).

Attaining plumb in our bodies is about the ability to finish strong…to fulfill our God given destiny…we do not want to diminish the call on our lives through preventable health related problems.

I am reminded of our Christian brother from Hawaii, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole (IZ), who became an International sensation for his rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in 1994. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1997, at age 38, weighing 757 pounds. Obesity ran in his family as his brother also died of weight related illnesses at age 28. This amazing man’s destiny was diminished by his body being dangerously far from plumb. (LEARN MORE ABOUT IZ).

God’s desire is for us to be whole in spirit, soul, and body (I Thess 5:23). To that end, may we all take seriously the condition of our physical bodies, the very temple of the Holy Spirit. Chris and I are passionate about the body of Christ becoming healthy in all ways and we are here to help you!

Walking with you,

Jen
